הוו מתונים בדין - Be Patient in Judgement
Hi-speed.
Transportation, communication, processing. The world seems to be spinning
faster than it ever has before. When I click "send," my e-mail
is sent, received, opened, and hopefully read in Israel, New York, New Jersey,
Colorado, Cuba, D.C., Florida, Dallas, and beyond in just minutes. While
this tempo of life is exhilarating and contagious, there remains a realm where:
delay will always be a virtue, and success is not measured in speed.
Our mesorah teaches
us that being slow to judge, deliberate in action, and patient in our ways is
the highest ideal. A uniting factor in achieving this ideal is an
investment of thought-filled-time to think about others' perspectives and the
priorities of life. This is difficult to remember in the world of
"instant." May we all have the foresight and motivation to develop
for ourselves: "iThink"—a way of life that slows us down to lift
us up to become better people, by taking some time to stop…and think.
