Suppose there is an investment available, with an unknown Return On Investment (ROI) of either 0%, 5%, 50%, or 500%. However, there is no way of determining the actual ROI at the outset. The fiscally sound approach would be to invest, instead of refraining due to doubt. This is a rare and lucrative opportunity that only requires a minor freeze of capital. In a similar vein, the mitzvos that G-d commanded us to observe do not bring with them significant risk, only some commitment of time, energy, or money. But along with this initial investment comes unknown degrees of reward – both in this world and the world to come. The fact that we do not definitively know the specific corresponding reward per mitzvah need not be a deterrent. By remembering that there are potentially unfathomable and immeasurable returns on our investments awaiting us, one should take the prudent course of action to invest in doing mitzvos. It's a once in a lifetime, lucrative opportunity.
