Rav Hutt
At some point in time, you might have experienced the amusing and slightly uncomfortable situation when a two year old boy (who is not your son) mistakenly grabs onto your leg. Based on similar shoes, pants, or skirt, he has concluded that you are the caring mommy or daddy that loves him dearly. It is all too frequent that adults also cling to certain people or institutions – assuming that they can provide safety and success in the greatest time of need. For a moment there is an illusionary sensation of security, just like the child who unknowingly embraces the stranger. Yet when the little boy glances up to see an unexpected face, or the grown man discovers his trusted superior to be indifferent or helpless, betrayal and fright snap the strings of reliance. Despite the pain involved, it is only after such a realization that one begins to appreciate the unconditional love from his true caring and compassionate father – his Father in Heaven.
